I read the quote in my title on a FaceBook Post and it moved me. I have gone back to it a few times just to re-read it and reflect......People stayed apart... the world came together

I love that thought. I have seen it in action repeatedly in my little world since Friday the 13th. Here are just a few examples:

First responders have returned to work day after day putting themselves in harm's way for the sake of others.

Teachers and Related Staff members have figured out how to reach Children with Special Needs remotely.

Teachers have driven by homes to wave to the excited familiar faces they use to see in their classrooms.

Grandchildren have made signs and held them up so a Grandparent could see how much they love them and miss them.

School Districts have designated days to pass out food.

Stores have opened early for Elderly to shop first to minimize risk.

A Target worker allowed a shopper to exceed her limit when she explained she was also shopping for her 78-year old Mother.

People have ordered from restaurants to do their part in keeping small businesses open.

Families have made drive-by parades for children celebrating birthdays.

Staff have supported each other in figuring this out, spending hours on the phone at night.

Teachers have attended Zoom/Google meetings while holding/chasing/rocking babies or while caring for a child who has the stomach flu, or while chasing a dog 4 blocks who somehow escaped the house. (had a hard time composing myself during an IEP meeting after the dog chase)

Adult children have grocery shopped for their parents.

Churches have established groups called Phone Care 65+ to check on their Senior Members.

People have reached out to friends they haven't spoken to in years and reconnected friendships.

Families have played virtual games.

Friends and Families have had group face times (some have include wine)

A stranger at the post office yesterday held two doors open for me as I carried a very large stack of work packets to be mailed to students (my guardian angel) (and we were unable to be 6 ft apart)

A really cute creative teenager painted paintings for friends for 2 days, then drove around to distribute them at their front doors.

A Grandson and his beautiful girlfriend walked with his Grandfather to give him some fresh air and keep him company.

A family scrambled to pull off a wedding for a daughter, minus all of the guests.

People have posted hearts on their front doors or lit luminary lights.

Families have had parking lot dinners in separate cars just to see each other.

These are only a few examples from my view of isolation. From my little bubble. I grieve and pray for those who are sick and those who have lost loved ones.

I'd like to leave You with a verse that gave me hope and encouragement this week.

"Our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is Eternal" 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

And the World Came together as the People Stayed Apart.

We will get through this trial. This, Too, Will Pass.

Peacing out for now,

Stay Healthy in body and mind, stay Courageous and Strong,

Kath
